Story goes: at the pound they tried to gas the dog five times, but she just wouldn't die. The experience left her brain-damaged; that's why she often mistakes herself for a cat or a person but never a dog. At least that's how I like to tell it.

The truth is they hid her whenever unwanted dogs were gathered to be euthanized. Eventually they forced her into the arms of a dog rescuer who then put her up on CraigsList where Jill found her two years ago in time for Tammie's birthday.

Why all the effort to save such a funny-looking dog, I'll never understand.
